  1. Right-hand frame rail near the front axle. On utility tractors (the MF 5M-series and the prior 4700 / 5700 SL), the factory chassis plate is riveted to the right-hand frame rail just behind the front axle and ahead of the cab step. The plate carries the full 17-character PIN plus model designation and homologation data.
  2. Under the cab on row-crop tractors. On the 7S, 8S, and prior 7700 / 8700-series row-crop tractors, the chassis plate is under the cab on the right-hand side, accessible from the cab step. Some Beauvais-built tractors carry a secondary plate inside the door pillar with the same PIN.
  3. Engraved into the frame. Massey Ferguson also stamps the PIN directly into the chassis frame casting on the right-hand front frame, so that even if the plate is removed or damaged, the chassis-stamped PIN remains. Engine-serial gotcha: Perkins vs AGCO Power

Massey Ferguson engines come from two different engine manufacturers depending on era and model, and the engine serial does not follow the chassis-PIN convention. This trips up buyers who expect a single decode to cover both:
