Known Issues
User reports detecting antifreeze smell in exhaust when tractor gets hot, with no white smoke visible. Issue occurred after pushing tractor hard. Suspected head gasket seep or crack causing coolant to enter combustion chamber.
Got an opportunity to buy a Ford 3600, it's in good working shape but the gasket around the hydraulic control leaks after its gotten good use and the 3 point arms don't work. What's a pretty fair price to pay?
So have an older tractor that was doing fine until I probably pushed it a little hard. Not once it gets hot I can smell antifreeze in the exhaust no white smoke or anything. So question could it be a head gasket issue that is seeping when hot and the metal expands. Cracked head or do you think it is time for a top end rebuild? Want to get things up and running over summer in spare time or over winter.
Newbie here. I know exactly enough to be a hazard to everyone around me when operating a loader or a brush hog. Had a thought about baling straw, and I'm curious what's involved. A friend's property is an old cow pasture, but they don't have cows anymore so it just grows wild and needs to be mowed once or twice a year. Currently a heinz-57 variety of gr@ss (y'all literally censored gr@ss?!) with a few weeds peppered throughout. We mowed it down with a Ford 3600 and a brush hog my wife's family owns. The hydraulics on it are wonky (I'll fix them eventually), and my wife ended up baling straw with the brush hog. That is to say, she started collecting and dragging quite the pile of cut gr@ss, almost as big as the tractor itself! So that got me thinking: what if we actually planted and farmed hay or straw next year? Is there a specific species that we should plant? What equipment should I buy? What's the best way to cut it down? Should I even bother or just be thankful for the opportunity to mow around 5 or so acres of tall lawn?
