Known Issues
The tractor has a hydraulic leak requiring seal replacement. The owner plans to have this repaired before bringing the tractor home.
A John Deere mechanic looked over the tractor today and said it was in really good condition and well maintained. He was confident that there is only 3,000 hours on the tractor due to the engine never having been rebuilt, nearly all original parts, and being in such good condition. He said part are available for basically everything except the bulbs for the headlights. There is a hydraulic leak and a seal to be fixed that I plan to have worked on before I bring the tractor home. The farmer would not budge on price, he felt he could sell the package tomorrow without a problem and was in no rush for the next year and a half or so. Seems like we are overpaying at $25,000 but the JD mechanic emphasized that it should be a strong reliable tractor for years to come and the package has what I need at the moment. I also do not think I would have an easy time finding something comparable in my area. Wish me luck on taking the plunge or let me know if you have any other advice I should know!
