Known Issues
I picked up an LT190 earlier this year. Worked fine when testing it on flat ground, but when I got it home I'm noticing it's having trouble going up inclines, and trying to tow anything is near impossible. No burning smell, no noises, and it's not something that happens after heating up, it struggles from the beginning. I'm also noticing the accelerator pedal tends to be slow to return. It's got an 18Hp Kawasaki V-Twin. I assumed this would be plenty of power as my granddad's JD316 was a workhorse growing up, but maybe it's just not the same these days? I made it through the season with it, and tried removing the mower deck, inspecting the drive belt, checking for any crud that could be blocking the path, all clear, so last would be that transaxle. I've read that even though it's a sealed non-serviceable unit, it's possible to still drain and change the fluid. I might try that as a last ditch effort. Anyone else have this issue? What did you end up doing? Looks like they're about $600+ for the transaxle alone. I bought the thing for $850, so not sure it makes sense to try and repair it if that's the issue.
