Known Issues
Mower won't start and makes grinding noise when attempting to start. Battery tested good at 12.7 volts. Possible solenoid failure or related starting system issue.
After replacing the PTO arm, the mower blades do not stay engaged. The arm bottoms out on the plastic housing and snaps back to disengaged position immediately.
S120 mower within warranty; belt wearing through protective cover creating safety hazard. Removed deck for cleaning; customer service claimed removal voided warranty.
S120 purchased April 2022; transmission failure at 66 hours (28 months post-purchase). Warranty expired despite minimal use; replacement transmission cost $1,836.80 CAD.
My S120 shut off while mowing. Then I heard something break off and saw the PTO aluminum piece broken. I got a replacement part from John Deere and installed it. Mower was still not turning on. Then I noticed a switch under the hood..the safety interlock switch…if I hold that and crank, the mower turns on. In addition, once its on it shuts off If i go in reverse ( without blades being on) and also shuts off if I ENGAGE the brake and try to get off the mower, usually it would stay on. If it the safety interlock switch? Seat switch?
