MF 135 serial numbers by year — full table 1964–1975
low

Posted this in a few replies but figured it was worth its own thread since people ask constantly. Here's the full MF 135 serial number table by year. The serial plate is on the left side of the transmission housing, just behind the starter. Find your number, then look it up in the table — your tractor's year falls between two consecutive numbers. **MF 135 Serial Numbers by Year** |Year|First serial of year| |:-|:-| |1964|100,001| |1965|126,350| |1966|149,040| |1967|165,250| |1968|179,301| |1969|193,930| |1970|209,195| |1971|226,479| |1972|241,598| |1973|255,303| |1974|270,073| |1975|283,505| Example: serial 220,000 → falls between 209,195 (1970) and 226,479 (1971) → **1970 build**. A few notes: * These are the first serial produced each year — production wasn't always perfectly sequential, so treat your year as approximate (±1 year on borderline serials) * The 135 was built at multiple plants; numbers can overlap slightly across factories in some early years * UK-built and North American-built units may have slightly different ranges on early models * Gas engine variants (Continental Z-134 or Z-145) follow the same serial sequence as the diesel — the serial doesn't tell you the engine type, but the engine number stamped on the block does If your plate is missing or unreadable, the engine number stamped on the block is your fallback — Perkins AD3.152 for diesel, Continental Z-134 or Z-145 for gas. *Source: workshop manuals and verified serial records at* [*ironreference.com*](http://ironreference.com) *— serial lookup tool there if you want to enter your number directly.*

Built a free parts cross-reference lookup for MF 135/165/265
low

Hey r/tractors — I've been putting together a parts cross-reference database for the older Massey Ferguson models and wanted to get this community's eyes on the data before I go too much further. It's at ironreference.com. Here's what it covers so far: * OEM part number → cross-references for Wix, Fram, Baldwin, NAPA, Timken * Serial number → model year and engine variant * Service intervals with hour schedules and fluid specs * Torque specs — head bolts, valve clearance, main bearings, injector pressure * Hydraulic troubleshooting — pick a symptom, get likely causes and part numbers Models covered: MF 135, 165, 265, 290, and 390. All data sourced from workshop manuals and verified against supplier catalogs. Every row has a confidence level — if something isn't verified, it says so. Mainly posting because I'd rather have someone here catch a wrong part number now than have somebody order the wrong filter. If you spot anything off, I want to know.

MF 135 hydraulic pump

Help a noob figure out where I can get the right hydraulic pump for our Massey Ferguson 135 (3cyl diesel). If I get the parts, my father in law will help me fix it. Thanks!

Massey 135 steering problem
low

Anyone familiar with the MF 135 steering box? Part number 1673663M1 Mine is broke’d, and parts would cost ~$400 to fix it hopefully, or it’s $600 for a “new” box - 1 year warranty, or $300 for an “off brand new upgraded” box that I’ve only found on eBay shipped from India - 30 day warranty (?) or att east return window, any insight?

Saving my grandfathers MF 135. Advice?
low

my dad was letting a [Massey Ferguson 135 diesel](https://i.postimg.cc/Nj7KXdy8/20210103-132951-HDR.jpg) rot, so I went and picked it up today. It was setting outside uncovered for five years or so. [other side pic](https://i.postimg.cc/5NWLT7Cv/20210103-132959.jpg) I emptied the fuel bowl and both filters and added some fresh diesel. the electrical is all rotten, but that's not an issue at all for me. the starter wasn't working, turned out to be broken connections at the NSS (https://i.postimg.cc/W1nGMGtZ/20210103-142831.jpg) I jumped it out and ran the starter, it worked. sometimes it kept running when I removed power. I sprayed starting fluid and it seemed to be starting to try to run off fuel alone. this is where I stopped until a fluid change happens. the hydraulic pump is supposedly dead. this will be addressed after its running on its own power. I went ahead and got ten gallons of oil, some hydraulic fluid, penetrant, degreaser and other stuff. my neighbor is going to do the initial basic maintenance on it for me, getting it to the point we can decide to do the pump or hire it out. ------------- purpose is general use around the property. we are closing on some land soon and my in-laws have about 20ac in the same neighborhood. what else should I be aware of?
